Charge over Coventry lollipop stick robbery

A man has been charged over an incident in which an 82-year-old lollipop man, helping children cross a road, was pushed to the ground and his stick stolen.

The victim, who had been in the job 14 years, had been helping children cross Humber Avenue in Coventry when the incident took place in January.

A man tried to grab his stick and the victim ended up falling to the ground.

Robert Pritchard from Stoke, Coventry, is charged with robbery.

Mr Pritchard, 33, of Bolingbrooke Road, will appear at the city's crown court on 21 August.
