A woman who was killed by a car transporter after witnesses saw her try to pull her daughter from the vehicle's path has been named.

Rachael Martin and her five-year-old daughter were hit in Western Road, Stratford-upon-Avon on Friday.

The 29-year-old died at the scene and the child was airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where she is being treated for "serious pelvic injuries".

Ms Martin's seven-year-old daughter was uninjured, Warwickshire Police said.

The transporter driver was also unhurt, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Onlookers said they saw the five-year-old walk out in front of the car transporter and Ms Martin jumped out to try to save her. The girl is in a stable condition in hospital, said police.

A spokesman from Manheim, whose transporter was involved, said: "We are working with the police and fully support their investigation. We understand that our driver is a witness."

Police said there had been no arrests and an investigation was ongoing.
