Warwickshire man gets 15 years for rape and kidnap

A man who kidnapped and raped a woman during a burglary has been jailed for 15 years.

Emilian Paduraru, of Fillongley, Warwickshire was charged in February over the incident which occurred in the West Midlands area, police said.

Paduraru, 28, admitted rape, assault, kidnapping and burglary at Warwick Crown Court.

Police praised the victim "for her bravery in coming forward after being subjected to such a terrible ordeal".

Det Sgt Adam Clifford from Warwickshire Police, said: "Thanks to her [the victim's] support and a relentless team effort from investigating officers, Paduraru was quickly identified and charged and will now be spending a considerable amount of time in prison for his crimes."

Paduraru was sentenced on Wednesday to 15 years for rape, 10 years for kidnapping, four months for assault and 12 months for burglary, all to run concurrently.
