A man has been charged with possessing a fighting dog along with a firearm and cannabis.

Adam Bickley, aged 24, from Harnall Lane East, Hillfields in Coventry is due to appear before magistrates in the city later.

Police shot dead two dogs after being called to that address during the early hours of Thursday.

The force said specialist officers, who were executing a warrant, were unable to safely get close enough to the dogs.

The Dangerous Dogs Act lists fighting dog breeds as: pit bull terriers, Japanese tosas, dogo Argentinas and fila Brazilieros.
