A mountain rescue team was called in to assist in the recovery of a motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a crash in the Lake District.

The man had come off his bike after hitting a wall on the A592 close to the summit of the Kirkstone Pass on Sunday.

He then fell about 30ft (9.14m) into a small stream.

Members of the Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team transferred him to the road and he was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

He suffered serious injuries and is being treated at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
