A book containing postcards written by celebrities to show their support for Cumbria after last year's floods is to go on sale.

Cumbria Tourism asked people including Dame Judi Dench and Patrick Stewart to spread the word it was still open for business after last November's floods.

The cards have been collected for a book, with a foreword by the Prince of Wales.

Proceeds will go towards organisations which helped after the flooding.

More than 1,300 properties were flooded across the county during heavy rainfall with Cockermouth, Keswick and Workington badly affected.

The book, which features more than 100 postcards, will go on sale on 15 November.

An exhibition of the postcards was taken around Cumbria in the summer and is now at Rheged, near Penrith.

Money from the book will be given to Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association, The Great North Air Ambulance, RNLI and Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund.
