Motorist dies when car strikes tree in Millom

A 25-year-old man from Barrow has died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Cumbria.

Krish Gooranah was travelling south on the A595 at Thwaites, near Millom, just after 1700 GMT when he left the carriageway and hit the tree.

Mr Gooranah, who was in a white Volkswagen Golf, died at the scene.

Cumbria Police are trying to establish why he lost control of the vehicle and want to hear from anyone who witnessed the accident.

Mr Gooranah was from Mauritius but had been living and working in Barrow-in Furness as a physiotherapist.
