Man charged over 'Koran burning' in Carlisle

A man has been charged in connection with the burning of a copy of the Koran in Carlisle.

Cumbria Police attended an incident in the city's English Street on 19 January after reports from the public.

Andrew Ryan, 32, from Summerhill, Carlisle, has been charged with religiously aggravated harassment and theft of the Koran.

A force spokesman said Mr Ryan was due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates' Court on 24 March.
