Brampton husband jailed for slashing cafe owner

A jealous husband has been jailed for three years for slashing the throat of a Cumbrian cafe owner.

Roy Farrimond, of Croft Road, Brampton, wrongly thought Robert Waugh was having an affair with his estranged wife.

On 9 November last year Farrimond attacked Mr Waugh with a knife after bumping into him in a pub.

Farrimond, 50, had claimed he acted in self defence but was found guilty of unlawful wounding at Carlisle Crown Court in February.

The court heard how he lunged at Brampton cafe owner Mr Waugh with an open lock-knife, slitting his throat.
