Hundreds of people took to the streets of Carlisle to celebrate the city's cup-winning football team.

Carlisle United beat Brentford 1-0 in the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley on 3 April.

The team travelled from the club's Brunton Park ground to the city's civic centre in an open-top bus on Thursday night for a special reception.

Club managing director John Nixon said the team were "immensely proud" of their success over the past year.

Carlisle have made it to the final of the competition six times and won it twice.

Mr Nixon said: "This sort of success matters to the people of Carlisle as much as it does to the club and the players who are all immensely proud of what they have achieved.

"We have had one or two parties since the Wembley win and I'm sure we'll be having a few more."
