Whitehaven drug dealer jailed for four years

A drug dealer who was visiting a friend in prison when her home was raided has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Kelly Scott, of Meadow Road, Whitehaven, turned to heroin dealing when her regular dealer was sent to jail, Carlisle Crown Court heard.

The 30-year-old admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply. Her accomplice Paul Sim, 24, of Copeland Avenue, admitted possessing drugs.

He was looking after the "shop" while Scott was out, the hearing heard.

Sim was put on probation for two years and told if he committed further offences he would be sent to jail.

The hearing was told that Scott was visiting a friend in Durham Prison when police raided her home in June last year and found a quantity of the drug.

Sim was at the house and told police it was the first time he had looked after the drug "shop" in her absence. Scott was arrested later.
