Drunken trouble-makers face Brampton town pub ban

Drinkers who cause trouble in a Cumbrian town will be banned from pubs when a new scheme is introduced.

From next month, a Pubwatch scheme begins in Brampton and anyone caught being drunk and disorderly will be banned from premises until 2012.

Sgt Jon Oliphant, of Cumbria Police, said residents had told officers that drunken, anti-social behaviour was one of their top concerns.

The first scheme meeting takes place on 9 May in the Howard Arms in Brampton.
