Cumbria Police arrest 12 after seizing drugs

Police have arrested 12 people and seized £20,000 of drugs over the last two weeks in two Cumbrian towns.

All the arrests have been made during raids in Maryport and Workington, as part of Cumbria Police's Operation Ulterior.

Drugs seized include heroin, cannabis, amphetamine and mephedrone.

In the latest raid on Saturday night, three men were arrested after cannabis plants worth £2,000 were seized in Kirby Street, Maryport.

The men, two aged 33 and a 32-year-old, were arrested on suspicion of possessing class B drugs with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.

All arrested in connection with drug offences have been bailed pending further inquiries.
