Coniston Water body find 'not suspicious'

The body of a man has been recovered from a lake in Cumbria.

It followed a call from a concerned member of the public who had located fishing tackle and clothing on the shore of Coniston Water on Friday.

This led to a full-scale search operation involving the police helicopter, local boat owners and mountain rescue volunteers.

No details of the man's identity have yet been released but the death is not thought to be suspicious.

A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said that the next-of-kin were being contacted, and the coroner would be informed.
