A woman has denied perverting the course of justice by washing away bloodstains after a man was stabbed to death in Carlisle.

Joseph Howard, 34, died after being found with a stab wound at a house in Balfour Road on 16 January.

Katie Humphreys, 20, of Balfour Road, pleaded not guilty to doing acts tending and intended to pervert the course of justice.

Her father Desmond James Young, 39, has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Ms Humphreys appeared at Carlisle Crown Court and was granted bail.

A 17-year-old has denied assisting an offender by driving away from the scene and perverting the course of justice.

Their trial is due to start in 7 June.
