Patrols to halt Workington car crime spate

Extra officers are to patrol a west Cumbria town to try to stem an increase in car crime.

In the past two weeks, there have been 18 reported car crimes in Workington town centre and Moorclose, including seven vehicles being stolen.

Cumbria Police said the rise was small but unusual and it was to put on extra patrols to combat the problem.

Householders will also receive a police advice leaflet urging them not to leave visible valuables in their vehicles.
