The family of an 87-year-old who died almost two weeks after he was seriously injured in a crash in Cumbria has paid tribute to a much loved family man.

John Lomas, from Threapland, Aspatria, was driving a Toyota Yaris which collided with a BMW car on the A596 on 4 June.

The great-grandfather was taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary, but died on 17 June.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident, near Scales.

His family said in a statement: "John, who was an avid fan of vintage machinery, will be missed by his two children, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his many friends throughout Cumbria."
