Walker airlifted to hospital after Grisedale fall

A woman had to be airlifted to hospital after hitting her head on a rock while walking on the Cumbrian fells.

The 52-year-old from Carlisle was in the Grisedale area when she tripped on Monday evening.

Members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called and carried the hurt woman off the fell on a stretcher.

An air ambulance, which had landed in a nearby field, then flew her to the Cumberland Infirmary.
