Millom charity shop targeted by vandals

Police have appealed for information following a series of vandalism attacks on a charity shop in Cumbria.

In the past four months the Age UK store in Millom has been targeted on eight occasions.

Criminal damage at the premises, in the Bradbury Centre on St Georges Road, includes smashed windows and damage to metal fencing panels.

During the latest incident a doorbell was stolen, leaving wires exposed which could have caused injury to the staff.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "As a result of the damage the charity has no other alternative but to pay for the repairs out of the charity's funds.

"This has a detrimental affect on the services that Age UK can offer and affects the lives of the people that rely on their support, simply because the money they raise is being used on repairs."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumbria Police.
