Police cycle event for flood victim PC Bill Barker

Police officers in Carlisle are taking part in a sponsored bike ride in memory of their colleague who died in floods.

PC Bill Barker was swept to his death in the River Derwent when Northside Bridge in Workington collapsed during floods in 2009.

On Saturday his colleagues are cycling 20 miles around Carlisle from Durranhill Police Station to collect charity tins from eight pubs.

They are raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance charity.
