Witness appeal after sex attack on Carlisle man

Police have appealed for a dog walker who may have information about a sexual assault on a man in Carlisle to come forward.

The 22-year-old was pushed into bushes behind houses on York Road on Saturday night, threatened and attacked.

It is believed that during the incident, a dog walker spoke to the offender and police are keen to speak to him as he could be a witness.

The attacker was aged between 26 and 30, and had a black pedal cycle.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "It is extremely rare that we receive reports of this nature in Cumbria and we have launched a full investigation."

He said officers were examining CCTV footage and wanted to speak to a man who was seen walking his dog in the lane between 22:30 and 23:30 BST as he might have important information.
