Cumbria youth good causes win Big Lottery funding

More than £400,000 of Lottery money has been earmarked to help good causes involving young people in Cumbria.

Cumbria Youth Alliance, which teaches 11 to 25-year-olds financial and entrepreneurial skills, will receive £156,000.

It will spend the money running financial workshops around Cumbria.

The Eden Arts Trust gets the next biggest donation of £140,000 and the Lakes College near Workington, will receive £120,000.

The money has come from the Big Lottery's Reaching Communities programme.

Helen Bullough, Big Lottery Fund head of region for the North West, said: "These projects will make a huge difference to the lives of some of the region's most vulnerable people."
