Man arrested over Frizington woman's death released

A man arrested on suspicion of murdering a 60-year-old Cumbria woman has been released without charge.

The body of Rita Boyd was found at her home in Rydal Street, Frizington, just before midnight on Monday.

A 63-year-old man was arrested over the death but has now been released without any further action, Cumbria Police said.

Mrs Boyd's death is now being treated as unexplained and a report for the coroner is being prepared.

A spokesman for the police force said: "Further inquiries and the initial findings of a Home Office post-mortem have resulted in the man being released without charge or any further action.

"Mrs Boyd's death is being treated as unexplained and a police investigation will continue to establish the circumstances surrounding her death."
