Green light for Penrith traffic changes

Councillors have agreed changes to traffic measures in a Cumbria town.

New regulations will be needed when the £77m New Squares development, currently under construction in the centre of Penrith, opens.

The move follows a public consultation exercise which resulted in the rejection of some of the proposals.

About 17 changes will be made to allow vehicles to access the complex, which includes a Sainsbury's, offices and affordable housing.
