Three Cumbrian arrests in £40,000 drugs seizure

Three people have been arrested and one cautioned after an estimated £40,000 worth of drugs was seized in Cumbria.

Police in Workington found 3kg of amphetamines worth £30,000 at Bowness Court and 1kg of cannabis at an address on Grasmere Avenue.

Two females, aged 34, and a male, also aged 34 were arrested for possessing drugs with intent to supply - all have been bailed.

A further male, aged 34, received a caution for possessing cannabis.

Det Insp Mark Backhouse, said: "This is one of the largest seizures of drugs in the Workington area for several months... we will continue to target those who insist on bringing illegal substances into our county."

The searches were part of Operation Broader Sweep, which was launched earlier this year to target drug users and dealers in west Cumbria.
