West Cumbria play areas get £100,000 overhaul

Almost £100,000 is to be spent upgrading 10 playgrounds in west Cumbria.

Copeland Borough Council is spending the money on play areas in St Bees, Mirehouse, Egremont, Moor Row and Whitehaven.

A council spokesman said some equipment in playgrounds was 20 years old and needed updating.

The upgrades will include new fencing, play equipment, grassed areas and safety flooring.
