Women warned after Carlisle sex attack

Women in Carlisle have been warned not to walk home alone following a sex attack in the city.

The incident, early on Saturday, took place adjacent to the Town Dyke Orchard car park.

It follows two other recent sex assaults in the city, but police do not believe they are linked.

On 18 September there was one in Knowe Road in Stanwix, and the next day a 19-year-old woman was attacked in the lane beside the former Lonsdale Cinema.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "I would urge women in the area to be vigilant and not to go home alone.

"Plan ahead to get home safely, do not walk home on your own- make sure you have enough money for a taxi or walk home with friends.

In relation to the latest incident, officers want to speak to two men who were at the bus stop at West Tower Street at about 05:05 BST, and might have seen something which would help with the investigation.
