Robber in bin bag disguise jailed

A robber who disguised himself by wearing a bin bag with eye-holes cut in it has been jailed for three years.

Robert Bingham, 22, was wearing the bizarre disguise over his head when he burst into the home of a 63-year-old man in Kendal, Cumbria on 17 June.

The victim, who was recovering from cancer and a stroke, was forced to hand over tobacco worth £112.

Bingham, of Aynam Road, Kendal, pleaded guilty to robbery at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday.

The court heard he was later found hiding under a bed at his uncle's house nearby.
