Police arrest Carlisle rape claim woman

Cumbria police have arrested a woman on suspicion on perverting the course of justice and wasting police time.

It is alleged the 18-year-old from Carlisle claimed she was raped at Town Dyke Orchard Car Park last weekend.

Police said they were continuing their investigation into two sexual assaults in Carlisle in the past month.

The attacks, one on Barton Place, Warrick Road, and the other on Knowe Road in the Stanwix area, are not believed to be linked.

Police have urged women in the city to not walk home alone at night and look out for their personal safety.
