Safety reminder after Carlisle sex assault

Women have been advised not to walk home alone following a night out, after a sex attack on a teenager in Carlisle.

Police are investigating the attack, which happened in the Denton Holme area of Carlisle in the early hours.

A Cumbria force spokesman said the attack was not being linked to the sex assaults in the city over the past few weeks.

He advised women to plan ahead to ensure they got home safely, and to take a taxi or walk in a group.
