Cumbria cash to boost young driver safety

A road safety scheme in Cumbria has been given a funding boost.

Pass Plus +, aims to improve the skills of newly qualified young drivers by providing subsidised post-test training from approved instructors.

They can experience conditions not covered under the standard learning programme, such as night time, motorway and all-weather driving.

County councillors have approved the £30,000 funding, which gives eligible young drivers £100 each to take part.

It is available to people aged between 17 and 20 who have passed their driving test within the past year.
