A care worker has gone on trial accused of abusing two elderly residents at a Workington home.

Kimberley Walker is accused of holding a blanket over a woman's head and a pillow over the face of another woman at the Amathea Residential Home.

Ms Walker, 24, of Newlands Lane South, has denied two charges of ill treating the women who had dementia.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how she held a pillow over the woman's face and screamed "shut up" at her.

Mrs Julie Stagg told the court how she heard her colleague Ms Walker say, "Shut up, I am sick of hearing you" to an elderly resident.

The trial continues.
