Cumbrian roads reopened after ice closures

The M6 northbound between junctions 44 at Carlisle and 45 at Gretna has been reopened after ice earlier caused "treacherous" conditions on Cumbria's roads.

Motorists were urged to take extra care as rainfall on top of ice caused problems on the county's roads.

By 08:00 GMT, police had received reports of 14 collisions, with ice said to be a factor in many of them.

The collision on the A590 has also been cleared and the road has been reopened.
