High winds cause road disruption across Cumbria

Motorists in Cumbria are being urged to take extra care as high winds cause disruption on the county's roads.

Fallen trees and branches have caused problems on the A66 at Kirkby Thore, near Penrith, and the A590 at Crooklands, near Milnthorpe.

A wagon is also reported to have blown off the M6 southbound near Tebay, as gales reach up to 70mph.

Police are urging drivers to drive slowly and avoid taking unnecessary journeys.
