Driver killed in Little Salkend crash named

An elderly man was killed when his car left the road and hit a wall in a Cumbria village.

Police said Leslie Jackson was driving his Mitsubishi 4x4 on a sharp bend near his home in Little Salkeld, Penrith, at about 07:50 GMT when he crashed.

There were no other passengers in the car and the 81-year-old, of Long Meg Cottages, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cumbria Police said his family had been informed.
