Carlisle petrol station attack: Arrested pair released

Two men arrested in connection with a baseball bat attack at a petrol station in Carlisle have been released after their bail was cancelled.

A man was attacked by three men, two armed with baseball bats, at Whiteclosegate filling station on Brampton Old Road on 26 October.

The victim, 32, sustained serious head, facial and shoulder injuries.

The men arrested in November on suspicion of conspiracy to murder will face no further action by police.

A third man, aged 28 from Houghton-Le-Spring, was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder on 26 December in connection with the same incident.

He remains on police bail until 24 January.
