Grandmother kicked in head in Cleator Moor

A man kicked a woman in the head in an "unprovoked" attack as she put her baby granddaughter into her car.

The 58-year-old was knocked to the ground in Keir Hardie Avenue, Cleator Moor, Cumbria, on Saturday evening, and was left badly bruised.

Her attacker was in his 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall and wearing dark clothes.

It is believed the man was with a woman when the attack happened at about 20:20 GMT, police said. The 14-month-old baby was unharmed.

A police spokeswoman said: "She was knocked forward into the car and then pulled out of it on to the ground where she was kicked in the head and back in an unprovoked attack, causing bruising to her body."
