Man comes forward after police appeal in Cumbria rape probe
A dog walker who police wanted to speak to as a possible witness following a rape in Cumbria has come forward.
Cumbria Police said the man spoke to a woman who had been raped in the Market Place, Whitehaven, on Saturday evening.
The woman was later found in a "distressed" state by another member of the public, on Sunday morning.
Five men aged between 22 and 52 from Whitehaven were arrested. They are all on bail until April while the investigation continues.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.
