Barrow man killed in 'crane accident' named

A 37-year-old man from Barrow who died in an industrial accident in Cumbria has been named.

Andrew Bowes from Mill Bank, died after a steel unit being lifted by a crane apparently fell at Meeting Industrial Estate at 13:22 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to Furness General Hospital with severe head injuries, but later died.

A second man, aged 31, was also injured and was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Cumbria Police are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances of the accident and are working with the Health and Safety Executive.
