A 61-year-old man has denied murdering a woman who died following a fire at a flat in Cumbria.

Stacey Mackie, 35, suffered serious burns during the incident at the supported accommodation in Crag View, Kendal, in January.

She was taken to a specialist burns unit, but later died.

Terrence Michael Armer, from Buttery Well Road, Kendal, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court and was remanded in custody. He will go on trial in June.

He pleaded not guilty to murder and a further offence of committing arson with intent to endanger life.
