Son, 34, jailed for drunken attacks on his mother

A man has been jailed after knocking his mother unconscious twice.

Richard Davy, 34, was drunk when he punched Audrey McKie inside their home in Millriggs, Corby Hill, near Carlisle, on 15 February.

After regaining consciousness Mrs McKie was attacked again outside her house, the court heard.

Davy, who is now homeless, pleaded guilty at Carlisle Crown Court to causing her actual bodily harm and was jailed for three years.

Judge Peter Hughes QC told him: "For a son to treat his mother in this way is truly appalling."

The judge also banned him indefinitely from having any contact with his mother and other members of his family.
