Energy company pay for footpath in Cumbria

A wind energy company has given £67,000 to a Cumbrian parish council to fund a footpath to a village school.

Banks Renewables, which gave the money to Old Hutton and Holmescales in Kendal, has just started work on the nearby Armistead wind farm.

The footpath will link three hamlets along a road that currently has no pavement.

The company is preparing a planning application for a further wind farm in nearby Killington.
