Road closures in Cumbria during resurfacing

Motorists have been warned to add extra time to their journeys while maintenance work is carried out along the A590 in Cumbria.

The work involves resurfacing sections of the westbound carriageway.

The £320,000 Highways Agency project will take place in two phases between Sunday 10 June and Wednesday 27 June. Local diversions will be in place.

Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said the work "should not cause any inconvenience to drivers".

The westbound carriageway of the A590 will be closed from the M6 between 04:30 and 21:30 BST on Monday 11 June and Tuesday 12 June.

There will be two overnight closures between 20:00 and 06:00 BST on Monday 25 June and Tuesday 26 June.

As well as the four full closures of the westbound carriageway the route will be also be reduced to a single lane at other times.
