Motorcyclist killed in road crash in Cumbria

A motorcyclist has died in a crash on the A591 in Cumbria.

The 54-year-old man from Maryport hit a stone road sign near Dunmail Raise, near to Thirlmere reservoir.

It happened at 23:00 BST when the driver, on a red Triumph Sprint motorcycle, was travelling from Ambleside to Keswick.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not been able to contact his next of kin and investigations are continuing.
