Flood prevention work to begin in Cumbria

Flood prevention work is to begin along a stretch of road in Cumbria on Monday.

The £300,000 scheme will improve drainage along a three mile section of the A590 between Dalton-in-Furness and Ulverston.

Funded by the Highways Agency, it is hoped the work will make the road safer and more reliable in wet weather.

It involves three phases of work between Dalton Road Roundabout and Stone Cross and should be complete by 9 December.

This part of the A590 is single carriageway and some of the work will require lane closures along short sections.

Temporary traffic lights will be used during closures.
