Crash on A5087 near Barrow leaves driver dead

A 64-year-old man died after his car left a road in south Cumbria.

Emergency services attended the A5087 Coast Road, near Ramside, Barrow, on Wednesday evening, where the Vauxhall Vectra had ended up on a verge.

The sole occupant, Malcolm John Boddington, from Barrow in Furness, was taken to Furness General Hospital, but died a short time later.

Cumbria Police appealed for witnesses to the incident, at 17:03 GMT. No other vehicle was involved.
