Dalton heroin smuggler Naomi Thriepland jailed

A 25-year-old woman has been jailed after admitting attempting to smuggle heroin worth £172,000 into the UK.

Naomi Thriepland, of Cumbria, was stopped by customs officials entering the Channel Tunnel in France, saying she had been at Disneyland Paris.

Her BMW car was then searched and up to 3.4kg of heroin was found in the boot in December 2011.

Thriepland, of Albert Street, Dalton, was sentenced on Monday at Canterbury Crown Court.

She was sentenced to four years in prison.
