Relatives of a man who was killed when he was hit by a car in a Cumbria hospital car park say they are devastated by his death.

Thomas Christopher Thompson, known as Chris, was pronounced dead at the scene outside Penrith Hospital on Wednesday.

The 77-year-old father-of-three, from Lazonby, was hit by a car driven by a 74-year-old local woman.

His family paid tribute to a "respected fell pony breeder", who farmed at High Drybarrows, Brampton, before retiring.

Mr Thompson leaves a wife, two daughters and a son.
