Patterdale Mountain Rescue team deals with three calls

Four walkers were flown to hospital on Saturday after falling on icy conditions in the Lake District.

Members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team first assisted a father and son who had slipped down an icy path on Helvellyn.

Shortly afterwards the team was called to a 27-year-old man who had broken his ankle and dislocated his shoulder on the same mountain.

Rescuers were then diverted to help a 47-year-old who fell on St Sunday Crag.
