A man has died in hospital almost a week after being struck by a lorry on the outskirts of Carlisle.

Gary Fell, 52, was hit on the A6 Carleton Road, close to the Premier Inn, on 9 March.

Mr Fell, from Wigton, was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary, but died on Friday, police said.

He had four children and three grandchildren, and was described by his family as a "loving father, who would be greatly missed".

Mr Fell had worked for 20 years at Wigton-based packaging firm Innovia.

The lorry driver was unhurt.
